2023 Edenesque Chardonnay

This Chardonnay has a blend of fruit grown on our Siwa home vineyard, as well as the Willowlake vineyard and Full Moon vineyard in the upper Yarra Valley. It presents with a pale straw colour with greenish tinges. The bouquet offers refreshing notes of lime splice, lemon curd, and ripe nectarine. On the palate, the sweet acidity perfume carries through mingling with rockmelon, subtle buttery tones and a hint of toasty French oak. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy.

"A blend of fruit from Wonga Park and Gladysdale, barrel fermented in French puncheons and hogsheads with the majority going through mlf. A light, bright, green gold. A bright bouquet with orchard fruits, Mirabelle plum and a little honeysuckle. The palate is delicate, fresh and gently saline. An elegant wine and better than last year's Edenesque, which I remarked was well made and well priced. This one is a bargain."

Winemaking and Tasting Notes

We find the blend of the upper and lower Yarra Valley fruit has a great synergy. The upper gives elegance and bright top notes while the fruit grown in the lower region provides power, fruit sweetness  and texture.

The fruit was whole bunch pressed, wild fermented and matured in 20% new medium toast French oak. We aim for approachability, and so, careful consideration of acid and fruit balance is essential, allowing the wine to be enjoyed while quite young and for up to 5 years from vintage.
