The 2022 Rosé is a fresh, crisp style
The 2022 Rosé is a highly drinkable style showing aromas of candied strawberries and cream, raspberries, Turkish Delight and confected cherry. There are also hints of frangipani and flinty-fairy floss.
The grapes for this rosé were picked in two separate picks across the Wonga Park Vineyard. There was 1 week between picks which allows us to achieve a rosé with primary fruit, complexity and layers. The blend consists primarily of Cabernet and Shiraz fruit.
Upon arrival into the winery, the grapes were destemmed directly to the press, where the juice sat on the skins for 3 hours and 1 hour respectively to extract a pink blush and extra fruit characters from the grape skins, this also extracts some texture and roundness into the wine. Upon pressing the juice was run to stainless steel for a cool fermentation using an aroma enhancing yeast.
The appearance is pale salmon.
Apparent fruit aromas of blackcurrant, peach and ruby grapefruit waft across the glass. Deeper, there are confected tones of strawberries and cream with raspberry drop, and also hints of green bell peppers.
The palate shows wonderful characters of fresh strawberry, blackcurrant and peach. Bursts of Turkish Delight with violet tones are also apparent. This rosé has balanced texture and wonderful fruit sweetness which is driven to a long finish by a well-integrated acid line.
A rosé intended to be drunk young and fresh, its approachable nature makes it an excellent food wine and the perfect accompaniment to any occasion.
