The Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay is a crisp balanced sparkling wine made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. We make this wine using the traditional Methode Champenoise with extended lees contact, hand-riddling and hand-disgorging. Enjoy as an aperitif or with a wide range of food at any time. Our second disgorging has just been released. Cellaring: Sparkling wine is made to be enjoyed without further storage. However, it will suffer no harm if cellared for up to 5 years.
A crips and delightfully aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, showing passionfruit, gooseberry and citrus flavours, nicely balanced with a bright, clean finish. Recommended to be enjoyed while young and fresh.
Our Chardonnay is whole-bunch pressed and the juices are fermented in 15% new French oak barriques. We stir the yeast lees fortnightly for 3 months to enhance texture and flavour. Much of the 2007 harvest was lost to a devastating frost but the fruit we did harvest was exceptional. A highly aromatic Chardonnay exhibiting stonefruit and passionfruit, great texture and supported by the faintest amount of toasty oak.
Our low yielding Gewurztraminer vineyard was planted in 1976 on a cool site at our Wonga Park vineyard. The 2008 is a lovely aromatic wine showing rose petal, citrus and floral aromas and flavours. The mid palate has a luscious sweetness and the finish is dry and crisp. Quite a versatile wine. Ideal with fish, Thai or Vietnamese food, or even with cheese. It is also lovely with desserts with a similar flavour profile or on its own. Cellaring: Drink while young and fresh or cellar for up to 5 years.
2008 was a very warm and dry season. Our Shiraz vineyards are highly exposed sites that were planted in 1976 and 1982. We aim for low yields to ensure good concentration of flavour and colour. The 2008 is a big, rich Shiraz, aged in 22% new French oak barriques. It exhibits ripe red fruit and spice aromas and has a full palate that is supported by toasty oak and easy soft tannins. Cellaring: Up to 7 years (although drinking beautifully now).
A delightfully aromatic Pinot Noir with soft tannins, intricate flavours and good intensity. 2007 was a good year for Pinot Noir at Kellybrook. The wine was bottled after 12 months maturation in 15% new but mainly second and third fill French oak. About 30% of the the fruit was whole bunch fermented to give added complexity. We leave our Pinot on its yeast lees unracked for extended periods in order to generate that Pinot "X" factor that is so appealing in a good Pinot Noir. The wine has good colour, a bouquet of ripe cherries mixed with mushroom and forest floor characters, a lingering aftertaste and a finish with soft rolling tannins.
The Kellybrook Rose is made by carefully harvesting and whole bunch pressing Cabernet Sauvignon. It is cool fermented and prepared for bottle immediately to retain maximum freshness. The 2009 is a dry style exhibiting candied strawberries and cream aroma with a nice acid balance. Drink while fresh and young.
Made in the style of Calvados from Normandy in France. A twice-distilled cider aged in Cognac oak - a very fine spirit. Our famous apple brandy has an average age of ten years in oak. It is distilled in our pot still. It has a fine complex nutty and apple spirit aroma and a palate that is long and smooth with a lingering palate reflecting its aromatic qualities. Known as Calvados in France, it is usually drunk as a digestif after a meal. However, it is also an indispensible addition to many French dishes.
A rare and special treat made exclusively from our own estate grown Shiraz and Cabernet grapes and aged in oak. The only one of its kind in the Yarra Valley. The Tawny Port from Kellybrook is a tiny production and is made entirely in-house. It has an average age of approximately six years, spent in large seasoned French and American oak barrels. The flavour profile comprises of lovely raisin, mocha coffee and chocolate characters. It shows a harmonious balance of sweetness, flavour and spirit. The palate weight is medium to full, synonymous with Yarra Valley wine style. A lovely luscious style, great with coffee, cheeses or quality dark chocolate.
